Demand
for LCD TVs are expected to surpass PDP TVs
next year, according to DisplaySearch, an
international marketing research and consulting
firm specializing in flat panel displays (FPD).
The institute forecasted on Wednesday that
LCD TV will account for 4.4% (8 million units)
of the world TV market, up this year's estimate
of 2.2%. On the other hand, PDP TV will attribute
for 3.4% of the world TV market, up from an
anticipated 3.2% share this year.
DisplaySearch also forecasted that the LCD
TV division will grow faster than PDP TVs,
representing 6.7% in 2005 compared with 4.5%
of PDP TVs. Japan's Sharp currently controls
46.3% of the LCD TV market followed by Samsung
Electronics (15.8%), Panasonic (8.3%), Sony
(7.2%) and LG Electronics (6%). |
