Patents
An invention is protected upon the grant of a patent pursuant to the Patent Law, and the "Invention" means the highly advanced creation of technical ideas utilizing rules of nature. An invention must satisfy the basic criteria of industrial applicability, novelty and inventive step (or non-obviousness).


The term of the patent right is 20 years from the filing date. For patents granted on applications filed on or after July 1, 1987 and before September 1, 1990, the term is the longer of 20 years from the filing date or 15 years from the date of publication or the date of registration.
